Ice Cream Sundae Blanket Crochet Along Part One
By Florence Roberts 6 years ago

Here is the first instalment of the Ice Cream Sundae CAL! Inspired by the pastel shades of ice cream, this is a lovely cool and crisp summer blanket.

This blanket is worked in rows of double crochet, changing the colour yarn in a certain way to make a square out of two different colour triangles.

You can purchase your exclusive yarn pack here >

For £42.99 you will get 15 x 50g balls of 100% cotton yarn, which is lovely to crochet with in gorgeous pastel colours. All the yarn you need to make your very own ice cream sundae blanket! There are five instalments for this CAL.

Keep reading for our helpful guide on how to crochet the first motif.

Using 5mm hook and white, make 23 chain (ch).

First row: Work 1 double crochet in the 2nd ch from hook.

To work dc, insert hook into stitch.

Take yarn over the hook, and pull through two loops.

You will now have two loops left on your hook.

image 3

Take yarn over hook again and pull through remaining two loops on hook.

Work 1dc in each of the next 20 ch.

Change to grey on the last stitch. To do this, insert hook into last ch, take yarn over hook and pull through. There are now two loops on the hook. Join grey and take grey yarn over hook and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook.

Turn ready for the next row.

Continue working with two colours, twisting yarns together on wrong sides when changing colours and working last dc before colour change as follows: with current yarn, insert hook in next dc, yarn over hook and pull through (2 loops on hook), with next colour, yarn over hook and pull through these last 2 loops on hook.

Second row: With grey, work 1ch. Work 1dc in first dc. Change to white and work 1dc in the next 21 dc.

Third row: With white, work 1ch, 1dc in each of first 20 dc. With grey, 1dc in each of last 2 dc.

Continue referring to the pattern. Creating two triangles within one square. Making sure to keep the yarn ends on the wrong side.
