Drops FREE Wintry Patterns

By Amy Sosbe 10 months ago

We’ve put together some great patterns that support two of the new ranges that we now stock – Drops Alaska and Drops Lima. Drops are an excellent brand and are great value for money; their patters are also all free!

Drops Alaska is a 100% wool, triple stranded Aran weight yarn. It’s a proven quality yarn and is one of the classics of the Drops collection and offers a wide range of colours. Drops Lima is a wool and acrylic blend DK yarn and is perfect for outdoor garments like classic fair-isle sweaters and sportswear. It’s hard wearing and durable like any great wool yarn should be, with the added bonus of being soft and comfortable, due to the lovely properties of the alpaca.

You can browse our Lima Mix and Uni Colour and Alaska Mix and Uni Colour ranges and all the shades available on our website.

Remembrance Day Poppy Displays

By Amy Sosbe 11 months ago

Over on our Facebook page at the end of last week we asked you to share with us some of the special Remembrance Day makes you’d made and any special Remembrance Day displays you’d seen.

We shared a beautiful display that was made in Kent for the shop window at The Politician's Daughter. It was knitted by the talented Ickham Crafty Ladies, it's a wonderful tribute to see.

We also spotted another touching display over the weekend, in Canterbury, Kent. The display was made up of a cascade of 10,00 knitted and crocheted poppies, made by a number of ladies from the local community.

You shared some wonderful displays with us and we’ve put together a few of them below. Thank you so much again to everyone who shared their pictures with us.

Rory The Reindeer

By Amy Sosbe 11 months ago

It’s November and Christmas feels like it’s just around the corner! Whether you’re feeling super organised or a bit flustered by the idea, we’re here to help! We’ll have lots of exciting Christmas projects on the lead up to the big day, to help you enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!

We’re starting off with our wonderful Rory the Reindeer kit. The kit comes complete with all the yarn you need, plus the pattern, making it nice and easy for you to make this adorable festive friend. The only things needed are a pair of 3mm (No. 11) knitting needles, washable toy stuffing and a small amount of black DK yarn for embroidery.

The original pattern is a tried and tested Woman’s Weekly pattern. It’s knitted entirely in stocking stitch, with the details embroidered on afterwards, so he's not only lovable, but is quick and easy to make for this busy time of year. He’ll add some great festive cheer to your home and would make the loveliest gift!

The finished reindeer measures about 41cm/16in tall. He’s knitted in Hayfield Bonus DK, which is super soft, so perfect for cuddling up to! The yarn can also be washed in the washing machine so he’ll stay looking lovely Christmas after Christmas.

There's also enough yarn included in the kit to knit another reindeer, so why not make a friend for Rory! Simply use the opposite shades used for the body, so use the Oatmeal shade for the main body and the Walnut shade for the hooves.

He's just too sweet not to make! Buy your Rory Reindeer kit for only £9.99 >>
