VE Day Tribute from Mystery Crocheter
PrintA secret yarn bomber has installed a VE Day tribute cover on a postbox in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Residents woke on 8th May to see the now famous postbox in Wilman Road with a new hat to mark the 75th anniversary since the end of WWII.
Colonel Tom Moore is honoured as its proud centre piece. Better known as Captain Tom, he is a former British Army officer is known for his achievements raising more than £30 million for the NHS in the run-up to his 100th birthday during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dubbed the Tunbridge Wells version of Banksy, the maker behind these wonderful installations remains a mystery. Through secret channels though, we were lucky enough to steal a few words:
"I wanted to make something that tied together the past with something current, and what could do that better than the iconic Captain Tom?"
The postbox cosy features a wonderful collection of poppies as well as red, white and blue bunting and the Union Jack flag.
