Original Vintage 1965 Womens Ribbed Cardigan And Skirt Knitting Patterns

This set of knitting patterns to make a smart ribbed button-up jacket and matching skirt was printed in the 22 May 1965 issue of Woman's Weekly.

The original instructions say; Cream looks fabulous on any colouring. Blondes will also love cool turquoise, dreamy jade and cinnamon toast. Brunettes may prefer ripe peach, green melon or pink heather. Redheads feel their best in pale pearl, Prussian blue of chicory. Grey haired women can wear guava gold, fiesta red or bluebell to perfect advantage. Work at a tension of 7½ stitches to 1 inch in width over the twisted stocking st using No.10 needles and 9 stitches to 1 inch in width, when pressed, over the twisted rib, on No.11 needles to obtain the measurements given.

The skirt is suitable for hip sizes 36, 38 or 40 inches when finished with a length of 24½ inches

For all sizes:

A pair of each No.10, No.11, No.12 and No.13 knitting needles
5 buttons
¾ yard of ¾-inch wide elastic
A 7-inch slide fastener
