Original Vintage 1965 Womens Jumper And Jacket Knitting Patterns

The knitting patterns for this fetching jumper and jacket twin set are originals from 1965. They were featured in the 14 August issue of Woman's Weekly.

The original instructions say; The jersey goes with trews, the jacket goes with everything. Work at a tension of 7 stitches to 1 inch in width over the stocking stitch, using No.10 needles, to obtain the measurements. The instructions are given for the 34-35 inch bust size two-set. Where the instructions vary, for the 38-39 inch size work the figures within the brackets.

A pair of each extra long No.9 and No.10 knitting needless
A four-inch slide fastener

7 ounces (199g) of Patons Beehive Fingering 4 ply, Patonised in light colour
5 ounces (142g) in dark colour

For the jumper to fit up to bust size 97-99cm/ 38-39in:

9 ounces (255g) of Patons Beehive Fingering 4 ply, Patonised in light colour
6 ounces (170g) in dark colour

For both jackets:

A pair of No.10 knitting needles
A pair of extra long No.10 knitting needles

For the jacket to fit up to bust size 86-89cm/ 34-35in:

11 ounces (312g) of Patons Beehive Fingering 4 ply, Patonised in light colour
2 ounces (57g) in dark colour
