Happily Ever After CAL - Part One
PrintWe begin our spellbinding Fairy Tale inspired CAL - Happily Ever After with the medium motif, wonderfully dream-like this square will make a lovely addition to the throw. This granny square has a round centre, made from treble stitches. The petals are made using long chains with treble and double crochet stitches worked around them.
For this CAL you will need Stylecraft Special DK (100% acrylic).
Stylecraft Special DK (100% Acrylic) in 100g (295m) balls, entire blanket requires the following:
2 balls in each of Cream (Cream 1005), Green (Meadow 1065) and Fawn (Parchment 1218), 1 ball in each of Deep Pink (Raspberry 1023) and Pale Pink (Clematis 1390). 1 ball in each of Pale Blue (Cloud Blue 1019), Dark Grey (Graphite 1063) and Dusky Pink (Vintage Pink 1836), 1 ball in each of Mid Blue (Aster 1003), Pale Yellow (Lemon 1020), Dark Green (Teal 1062), Purple (Violet 1277), Orange (Spice 1711), Pale Grey (Silver 1203), Light Teal (Denim 1302) and Rust (Copper 1029). 3 balls White (White 1001). You will also need a size 3mm crochet hook.

First round: With 3mm hook, make a slip stitch (slst) in your chosen colour, in this case, Parchment (D).
Pull loop tight on hook.
Make 4ch, to do this, take yarn over hook.
Pull through loop on hook.
You will have one loop on hook.
Repeat a further three times.
Making 4ch.
Work fifteen trebles (15tr) in 4th chain from hook. To work tr, take yarn over hook.
Insert hook into 4th chain from the hook.
Take yarn over hook again and pull through st.
You will have three loops on hook.
Take yarn over hook again and pull through two loops.
Yarn over hook and pull through the remaining two loops on hook.
Repeat a further 14 times, making 15 tr in total.
Join round with a sl st.
To do this, insert hook into top of 3ch, take yarn over hook and pull through all loops.
Second round: 4ch.
Work 1tr in the next tr st.
1ch.
Repeat another 14 times, making 15 in total.
Join with a sl st.
Third round: work 3ch.
Then 2tr in first chain space (ch sp).
Then work 1tr in each tr and 2tr in each ch sp.
Repeat 14 times more, making 15 in total.
Fasten off first colour and join next colour with sl st in same place.
Fourth round: with Cream (B), 1ch, work 1 double crochet (dc) in same st. To work a dc, insert hook into st, yarn over hook.
Pull through st. You will have two loops on hook.
Take yarn over hook and pull through the two loops on hook.
Then 3ch.
Miss the next 2tr and work 1dc in next tr.
Then 10ch.
Miss the next 2tr and work 1dc next tr.
Work 3ch.
Miss the next 2tr and 1dc in next tr, then 5ch.
Miss the next 2tr, then work 1dc in next tr.
Repeat from the first 3ch a further three times, making 4 in total.
Sl st into the first dc to complete the round, rather than a dc.
Fifth round: Sl st in the 3 chsp.
Work 1ch and 1dc in same ch sp.
Work 5tr, 3ch, 5tr in the 10 ch sp.
Work 1dc in 3 ch sp then 7tr in 5 ch sp.
Work 1dc in 3 ch sp, then work 5tr, 3ch and 5tr in 10 ch sp.
Repeat referring to the pattern.
Fasten off yarn with a sl st.
Sixth round: With Spice (N), join in the new colour at the same place as sl st and 8ch.
Miss the 5tr and work 1dc, 3ch and 1dc in the 3 ch sp.
Then 5ch, miss the 5tr and work 1tr into next dc.
Work 3cg, miss 3 tr and work 1 dc into next tr (the middle stitch of that cluster). Then 3ch.
Miss 3tr, 1tr into next dc, then 5ch.
Miss the next 5 tr, work 1dc, 3ch and 1dc into the 3 ch sp.
Repeat the round referring to the pattern.
Seventh round: 3ch.
Work 4tr in the 5 ch sp.
Work 3tr, 3ch and 3tr in 3 ch sp.
Work 5tr in 5ch sp.
3tr next 3 ch sp twice.
Then work 5tr in the next 5 ch sp.
Repeat the round referring to the pattern.
Fasten off the yarn with sl st.
Eighth round: With Lemon (K), with a sl st and work 1ch.
Work 1dc in same st, then work 1dc in each tr.
Work 3dc in each corner 3 ch sp.
Continue to work 1dc in each tr st, referring to pattern.
And that's your first square complete! Make another 14 of these squares.
