The Queen's Official Birthday
PrintSaturday 8th June 2019 marks the official Queen’s birthday. The official birthday is marked on the second Saturday in June every year. The Queen’s actual birthday is the 21st of April and her majesty usually spends her day privately, with family. However, the occasion is marked publicly by gun salutes in central London, a 41 gun salute in Hyde Park, a 21 gun salute in Windsor Great Park and a 62 gun salute at the Tower of London!
On her official birthday, Her Majesty is joined by other members of the Royal Family at the spectacular Trooping the Colour parade, which moves between Buckingham Palace, The Mall and Horseguards’ Parade.
The Queen has ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history, overtaking Queen Victoria’s record and this year her Majesty marked her 93rd birthday.
Some interesting facts:
- The Queen is the 40th monarch since William the Conqueror became King of England in 1066.
- The Queen is the first British monarch to have celebrated a Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
