Stitch Library Doll’s Blanket - Knitted Stitches 1 & 2

Print
By Amy Sosbe 4 years ago

Welcome to our first part of the Knitting Stitch Library! We’re starting off with the 2 simpler knitted stitches that are ideal for beginners, both slight variations of each other – the Simple Moss Stitch and the Diamond Moss Stitch. These 2 stitches are categorised as ‘Texture’ stitches, otherwise known as ‘Fabric’ stitches.

There will be 6 different knitted stitches all together, so get ready to test your skills.

We’ve written out the patterns for the Simple Moss Stitch and the Diamond Moss Stitch below for you to knit a 13 x 13cm (approx.) square of each. You will need 12 squares in total, so you can choose to knit as many of each design as you’d like. We've used Go-To DK for our blankets.

Simple Moss Stitch

Simple Moss Stitch is a beautifully textured stitch made up of stocking stitch interspersed with purl stitches and is a nice pattern for using on baby garments. It’s a timeless stitch and the simple repeated pattern makes it a relaxing one to work up.

Pattern rep. is in units of 4 sts and 8 rows

Using 3.75mm knitted needles, cast on 32 sts.

Row 1: *K 3, P 1* to end

Row 2 and alt rows: purl

Rows 3 and 7: knit

Row 5: K 1, *P 1, K 3*, P 1, K 2

Repeat until knitting measures the same as the width. Cast off.
