Charity of the Month - Bumblebee Conservation Trust

We’re delighted to be supporting Bumblebee Conservation Trust as our charity of the month throughout May!

During the month, you can round up your orders to the nearest £1 at the checkout and all money raised will be donated to Bumblebee Conservation Trust, registered charity in England and Wales (1115634) and in Scotland (SC042830).

We’ll again be matching all donations so whatever you donate, we’ll donate the same, doubling the total amount raised for the charity.

About Bumblebee Conservation Trust:

We are passionate about saving bumblebees and we believe that the best way to do this is to be guided by the latest bumblebee and pollination science.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust was established because of serious concerns about the ‘plight of the bumblebee’. The 24 species of bumblebee found in the UK, represent approximately 10% of the world’s bumblebee species. In the last 80 years our bumblebee populations have crashed. Two species have become nationally extinct and several others have declined dramatically.

Gardeners have long known about the importance of bumblebees for pollination. These wild bees are iconic, charismatic and captivating insects and provide a vital “free-bee” role in pollinating much of the food on our plates, garden and wildflowers as well as fruits and seeds for birds and small mammals. They are incredibly efficient and effective wild pollinators of 70 of the 100-crop species that provides 90% of food worldwide and act as a useful and powerful indicator of the health of our environment, so there is good reason to act to help them!

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust have a vision to create a world where bumblebees are thriving and valued. Their mission is to increase the number and distribution of bumblebees. A growing number of committed supporters are helping their team of staff make a big difference.
