Charity of the Month - Samaritans

By Amy 2 years ago

Throughout January, we’re raising money for Samaritans. You can round up your orders to the nearest £1 at the checkout, and all money raised will be donated to Samaritans, a registered charity in England and Wales (219432) and Scotland (SC040604). We'll match donations at the end of the month to double the total raised!

Samaritans is a charity working across the UK and Ireland to reduce the number of people who take their own lives and help people who are struggling to cope with how they’re feeling or with life’s challenges. Just £5 could answer a potentially life-changing call.

Every seven seconds, Samaritans answer a call for help. They’re there, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, they’re taking action to prevent the crisis.

Samaritans give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. They encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. That’s why they work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.

As always, we'll be matching your donations, so whatever you help to raise, we’ll donate the same, doubling the total amount given.

There’s always time for a cuppa and a catch-up

Today, on Brew Monday, Samaritans is reminding everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with the people you care about.

The third Monday in January is sometimes referred to as ‘the most difficult day of the year’ but this is a myth. At Samaritans we know there’s no such thing as ‘Blue Monday’ – we all have our good days and our bad days, and those aren’t for the calendar to decide.

We can always make time for a cuppa and a catch-up. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Monday morning or Saturday night, or if you’re drinking green tea, black coffee or orange juice.

If you’re sharing a cuppa and listening, you’re doing it right.
